Chinese zoysia grass

Plant | Poaceae
Zoysia sinica

Characteristics

The Chinese zoysia grass is a common coastal plant. Its tolerance to drought, salinity, moisture, trampling, and low nutrients enables it to flourish in the harsh environment of coastal wetlands. The grass has long and thin aboveground stems, as well as creeping rhizomes. The Chinese zoysia grass is mostly distributed in coastal mudflats or sandy beaches in the intertidal zones of Taiwan and China. The populations in Gaomei Wetlands are mainly on sandy beaches at the Qingshui Drainage and the north shore.

Distribution

The Chinese zoysia grass grows in the core area of Gaomei Wetlands.
